A cop I interviewed told me that criminals almost always place themselves at the scene of the crime - “I didn’t rape the woman but I did startle her as she was walking…” because they think they can use that as an out - “No, people saw me in the neighborhood because I was walking there, not because I was out raping…”

Now whenever I hear that “I was at the scene but didn’t do it,” I remember that conversation.
