More Shoes to Worry About
The sight of these boots from the new 80/20 lookbook triggered a variety of feelings, like OH NO, will I start wanting these? and ending with, Would Rumi wear them? From now on, when I evaluate footwear, I’m going to apply the Rumi test. If the answer seems like Yes, they are automatically off my agenda.
What about these Jeffrey Campbell gladiator sandals. If you can’t tell whether something is a sandal or boots, that could be a bad sign. I think I like these anyway. They’re only $180. If only they were $475, I’d LOVE them and fret about them You know exactly what I mean, right?

My rule for fall is to only buy shoes from sex shops in various colors of metallic and glitter, so that everyone thinks I have amazing designer shoes but can’t figure out who they are.

“Rumi test” is a great idea. I think I’ll borrow your idea, SW. I almost went against my buying ban and bought the Jeffrey Campbell gladiators. Almost. Would have put those puppies on my credit card if they’d actually had them in my size. Maybe it’s a good thing they didn’t.

Geez I need to apply the Rumi test too – it might mean I don’t spend any money and therefore become anti fashion and no doubt be more fashionable for doing so plus richer!

Dammit! Now I want them! Just when I’ve started shopping at resale stores too! $180 buys lots of 2nd clothes! But then a pair of quality shoe/boot/sandal thingy trumps that, right?

I actually like them but I know Rumi the stupid cunt would wear them so applying the test – they’re out for me.
