Emma, thanks for mentioning Beksinski – he’s incredible. Long time ago as a student of art history I had a privilege to read his letters to a director of a gallery which supported him for years. He was funny, witty and wrote very well.

Thanks for sharing! I loved his interview. He’s got Toronto down pat, and I love the fact that some of his girls are really boys with dresses on, and his candor about where this idea came from.

Nobody ever tells me anything either. I love those paintings. Particularly “French Kiss”. What talent. Sometimes I wish I had artistic talent, but when I see someone like Ray Caesar’s work, I know it could never work. My brain doesn’t work the same way.

Ray Caesar’s art is something else! So delightfully creepy. If you haven’t already, you should read about his technique (it’s written up on his website, or at least it used to be) – it’s fascinating. I was so surprised when I first learned that it wasn’t painting in the traditional sense.
