Stuff to Want, For a Change

If you follow this link, you can see the full line of Versace for H&M, due in stores on November 17. Bright, flashy exotic prints and old-school Versace overkill in the accessories make this collection a nostalgic trip down Eurotrash lane.

I’m ready for it! I’m tired of drab colors and black with black.

These pants come in a leafy Hawaiian print as well, and look nice under the dresses or with short clashing   tops.

I love a pink suit on a male model but I admit that I’d like one for me. I think I could pull it off. But realistically, I will probably just set my sights on the pink shoes.   I’m not willing to stand in a long line to get my hands on this stuff but if the crowds aren’t too scary, these shoes are mine.

And if the shoes don’t work out, I want the bedspread. There are matching pillows for a nice opium den effect.

What do you think about this collection? Love it or hate it? Is it worth fighting a mob of aggressive girls wearing their Lita platforms?

    someplace, lili pulitzer is laughing.

  2. niki Says:

yeah i really want a lot of this…damn being in Australia!!

  3. Heidi Says:

A mite too colorful for the likes of me.

  4. Heidi Says:

I think this will be more up my alley, though I’ve yet to read the series or see the movies.

  5. annemarie Says:

i think you should get the pink suit if you can find a small one. I’m sure there will be more aggressive girls in Lita platforms than there will tragic hipster boys.

These pictures you’ve posted are all I’ve seen of it, but I agree it looks wonderful.

  6. Sista Coyote Says:

    Hot mess.

  7. alicia Says:

It’s not bad, but the fact that every girl on every blog in every country will be wearing all the pieces makes me want it a lot less. Also, $200 for H&M? I don’t care if it’s supposed to be cheap, crappy, “genuine” leather, it ain’t happening.

Also, I refuse to wait in line to buy stuff. That’s ridiculous, although an ingenious business model.

  8. Make Do Style Says:

I think these designer collab things are irrelevant!

  9. patni Says:

I love it. I want the leggings. The dresses are probably more than i can afford, and not sure H&m is what i want to blow money on. I wont wait in line or deal with crowds for any one or anything. I will wait till the broo haha has died down and see what is left. if anything. I have found that a lot of the designer colaborations turn up in buffalo exchange a few months after. I think kids buy them in a frenzy then don/t like or wear them once the hooopla has died down.

  10. patni Says:

but what do I WANT? all of it . now.

  11. Hammie Says:

    Love the dress.

  12. Stella Mayfair Says:

since i adore donatella, for being so incredibly camp, and straightforward, and unapologetically “too much of everything”, i’m very excited for this, especially for the menswear. i don’t own a single versace piece (and a h&m versace piece would never be my first), but i really like that it’s there.

  13. Suspended Says:

Love the colours but I feel the genuine Versace aesthetic has been watered down. Look at the prints, the gaudy gilt insanity has been replace by something that could quite easily be one of those gut wrenching, stupid, limited edition box of tampons.

If the original Versace look is what is back in Vogue…then bring it!! I want the full on “new money” trash factor.

Love the suit. This is much more true to Gianni’s vision. I’m instantly beamed back to 1990. I have a real thing for monochrome but my wife hates it.

Hope you manage to get those shoes, Sister. I hate all these shitty collaborations but the shoes do look pretty good quality.

  14. Suspended Says:

Just flipped through the rest of the menswear and HOLY FUCK….Jersey Shore!!

  15. Jaimi Says:

Right on! Now this is my kind of tacky. I don’t know if I’d be willing to fight for it though!

  16. Andra Says:

    Yeh, pink suits for everybody.

Spring is sprung (well, Down Under anyway).

  17. kt Says:

This is the first “collaboration” that I am excited about. I really hope that most will be deterred by all the colors and prints so I can actually get a shot at scoring some of this booty.

  18. Ann Says:

I’ll take the bedspread. Or the pattern on the leggings on a bedspread.

  19. Danielle Says:

LOVE all the menswear things in bright solid colors…if only it were designed for women! I wish designers would notice that the things men want from clothes (comfort, practicality, quality) are also the things a lot of women want from clothes too! It’s maddening to see some great menswear with clean lines, good fabric, and sweet tailoring and then the same designer seems to go, “oh, fuck it, women will do anything to upstage that bitch next to her so let’s design something that’s not comfortable and super flashy in a cheap fabric just to get it out of our systems.” BLEH.

  20. Jenny Says:

I have to say you would look hot in the pink suit – the shoes are great too of course. Men’s clothing is so much better …

  21. David Duff Says:

    Hate it!

But I’d like to fight “a mob of aggressive girls wearing their Lita platforms” (whatever they are!)

Of course, I’d succumb in about 4.5 nanoseconds.

“succumb” – don’t even think about it – I do the jokes round here!

  22. stacy Says:

I agree with Jenny, you’d look ‘hot in the pink suit’. I remember those leggings from the 80s, in particular, Sisley did a white pair. Not for me but perhaps a super model. Sister Wolf can you please make those girls in the Sally Jessie Raphael glasses and Mom jeans go away now? Thanks.

  23. Cricket9 Says:

I’m with Danielle – why the menswear is so much better? Why do we get the short end of the stick?

  24. Andra Says:

I agree with Danielle too. Let’s have more comfort in women’s clothes.

David, I don’t think you should wear pink, not with your skin tones.

I think puce would be better for you. With perhaps a touch more lavender in the shirt.

  25. JK Says:

Does the bedspread manufacturer make matching curtains?

I’ve an acquaintance who inevitably gives me weirdo ties at Christmastime – a set as described would be wonderful in her lavendar painted room.

  26. Sister Wolf Says:

Heidi – Aren’t those Dragon girl clothes the stuff we already wear? my basic uniform is jeans, tshirt and leather jacket. It’s so boring. But the movie – no way. I hear it’s full of violent rape scenes: an automatic pass for me.

annemarie – You think? I guess I should find out what that suit costs.

    Patni – Yep, yep.

Suspended – I hear you, but I’m curious about the tampax. Do they come in designy boxes now? And why can’t your wife see the beauty of monochrome?!

Jaimi – Naw, the fighting part is just stupid.

Jenny – I hear that Topshop for men is pretty good.

kt – Let me know if you score something.

Anne – Ok, so we’re on for the bedspread!

Danielle – I’m very suspicious about the fabrics they used for this collection. If it’s shitty polyester or a shitty blend, I could never stand to wear it.

Stacy – I’ll try to get rid of them but what about the girls wrapped in long neck scarves on a hot sunny day??

  27. Sister Wolf Says:

Andra – I think David could wear this rose pink, maybe with a dark shirt for contrast.

JK – Oooooh, I would love curtains like the bedspread – very Asian Brothel, and great with lavender walls.

  28. liz Says:

im loving a lot of the pictures ive seen of the HM line, hopefully the fabric isnt completely shitty

  29. Suspended Says:

Sister, every type of ‘feminine’ product in the UK has a magazine and TV ad shouting about it’s “discretely designed packaging.”
See here for an example – http://www.mamamia.com.au/relationships/luxury-tampons-for-women-with-fancy-vaginas/

There are plastic cases like i-phone covers etc. I find it all quite bizarre. Though, thinking about it, not quite as bizarre as my Mum’s giant candy jar full of tampons that sits on the edge of her bath. Obviously she isn’t getting the ‘be ashamed of your period’ marketing ideology. Thank fuck she recently went through the menopause. She had my brother quite confused as a child. I remember him confessing to me that he didn’t think tampons did a very good job of wiping his butt. I guess he thought if they were sitting out on display they must have had a general purpose for everyone.

My wife doesn’t like things that are too “matchy-matchy.” Monochrome falls into that category.

  30. Angie Bitchface Says:

ooooh I love the floral dress/leggings combo! good thing I can’t afford them, so I don’t have to be sad about all the hipster girls buying them before I can get to an H&M.

  31. O D Y S S E Y Says:

Color and I have an unconventional relationship. I shall attempt to explain: I love to see and work with color. I enjoy teaching color theory. However, after years of living in a chromatically-charged tropical paradise, I experienced an unfortunate case of color trauma in the sartorial sense. One can only stand to be hit over the head by a rainbow (or wear one) for so long. Now all I wear is black and white and it feels soothing, comforting, inexplicably familiar. Perhaps I was a monk or was colorblind in a past life.
For the present, I leave color to nature and my art and the world.

  32. O D Y S S E Y Says:

Re: littlebadwolf “someplace, lili pulitzer is laughing”, haha, love it! Now I’m laughing, too.

  33. Marky Says:

Yes! You can totally pull off hot pink and/or turquoise! If those are pants, get them! And I bet you can get those men’s shoes, too. The men’s stuff you show reminds me of the Pink Panther collection that Commes des Garcons did a few years back.

It’s nice to see you’re wanting stuff. Me, too! After a few years of the blahs, there are some really great things right now. I’ll have to wait for the Barney’s Warehouse Sale in March to get anything, though.

  34. Stella Says:

    Hi.
People in Canada went mad when the selection launched
At the H&m store. I must admit, I love colourful clothes, perhaps
Because I wear black to work. Their selection is really nice.
I have purchased the blue dress and I really love it. But it makes
Me upset when people try to sell those items online for triple the amount.
Like seriously 600$ cdn when the dress is 200$.
So if u want to buy it, try not to get ripped off.
