Sisters!

The Sutherland Sisters sepia

I am truly blessed in the sister department. One of my sisters who lives in a Scandinavian country and who I will call “Clinique,” posted this on facebook:

[My daughter's school-class is taking a trip to Poland and] will be visiting Auschwitz concentration camps. It should be an amazing, informative, and emotional trip.

I can’t even describe my reaction to this.

But I’ll focus on the word usage. When she writes ‘Auschwitz concentration camps’ does she mean, as opposed to the Auschwitz Bar and Grill or the Auschwitz Shopping Center?

Meanwhile,Tennis just sent a list of her services to the trust, which included a charge of $600 to prepare six checks.

i look at that photo and think “oy, my drain!”.

  2. Kellie Says:

Camps??? I think she will find only one Auschwitz. Amazing trip indeed.

Tennis is doing such a fabulous job for you. I couldn’t be more happy that she has been left in charge. Clearly the most lovely and fair of any other choices.
She has apparently now become a lawyer, charging by the overcharged hour.

I am so sorry. I am outraged on your behalf, yet again.

    xxx

  3. Sister Wolf Says:

Kellie – Thank you. You are so good about verifying my reality.

dede – Yep, that is way too much hair even for me.

  4. Winter Bird Says:

Bend over and grab your ankles…here comes Tennis! Too bad you can’t send her to Auschwitz for her crimes against humanity.

  5. Andra Says:

That bloke in the photo with all that hair looks pretty complacent, doesn’t he? Smug even.
Somebody should give him a smack in the mouth….

  6. Rainbo Says:

I always find myself wondering how those dresses must have smelled, and how often they washed them, what an arduous task that must have been. Looking at the HAIR just makes think they had to wash it a lake, or something. I am a hair dresser. I can’t imagine having to shampoo that much hair. That’s crazy.

It might be too much hair for you, Sister, but the guy on the ground seems to like it. I think he’s poppin’ a chubby for the hirsute.

i don’t know how your eyes haven’t rolled right out of your head yet?

  9. Helent Says:

Perhaps her tennis elbow has meant that preparing checks is more arduous and time consuming for your dear sister? I feel sure she has prepared them wonderfully though. On the other hand she may just be fleecing the trust and her family in a rather cuntish way. I’m going cuntish.

  10. Sister Wolf Says:

Andra and Lynn – That guy is their brother.

  11. Nephew Russell Says:

“Camps??? I think she will find only one Auschwitz.”

Auschwitz was made up of three main camps and some smaller auxiliary camps built over a few years as the purpose of the thing shifted around, from concentration camp to labor camp to large scale death factory. It’s a fascinating story if you can stomach it.

SW’s sister still sounds awful, though.

  12. Suspended Says:

I see what you have to put up with and I see how strong you are as a person. xoxo

  13. ali Says:

I will share my sister with you. She is obnoxious and ba tshit crazy… but she isn’t dumb. and she has natural blonde hair to her waist :)

  14. David Duff Says:

That Chekhov fella’ ought to write a play about you three!

  15. Cricket9 Says:

Clinique has no idea how “amazing” this trip will be. I’ve been there with a Spanish TV crew once upon the time. After a while we’ve been all sobbing like little children. “Amazing” indeed, like Disneyland, or something. Never mind.
I had hair down to my bum as a child, and washing it was an ordeal. I hated it and cut the hair as soon as my mother let me (not soon enough). Feel sorry for these women – “hi, I’m a hair factory”.
I hope Tennis has a really beautiful copperplate handwriting to charge $100 for writing one cheque.

  16. madam restora Says:

That hair is ‘amazing’. We call it ‘cult hair’.

  17. Debbie Says:

“Clinique?” LOL! That right there had me laughing my ass off.

    XOXO

  18. Lucy Says:

Maybe she wrote “camps” because Auschwitz-Birkenau is separated into two main areas. Auschwitz I was built first, Birkenau (Auschwitz II) opened in ’41 because the main camp was so congested, and that what when it really became an extermination camp.
I went there last month & did the tour. There were a lot of school trips from all over Europe there, and many of kids on the trips were goofing around with their friends, taking pictures of themselves next to the gas chambers (wtf) and generally being little jerks. I definitely acted like that on school trips, but I never went to a concentration camp.

  19. Monica Says:

Dear me you are hysterical!! Thanks for the laugh this morning.
